Daphne, Alex Knohl, and I arrived at about 10:50 PDT. It was clear sunny and hot. The grass is crispy but the trees still look good. There was a tiny little bit of water in the bottom of the water hole – in 2021 the water hole was dry by 7/13. This was Alex’s first visit to Vaira since 2006.

We did the standard data collection. I measured the well and Daphne collected the met, flux, camera and FD data.
The 7500 read: 415.1ppm CO2, 462.7mmol/m3, 30.0C, 99.5kPa, 101.7SS
Daphne reset the 7550 clock by about 1.5 min and restarted logging

We added the new Arduino based rotating shadow band diffuse PAR sensor (sn 010164) to the BF3 tripod. It ran for several weeks in the lab without locking up. I added a watch dog to the CR1000 (sn 4190) code that will hopefully restart the Arduino if half a day of data goes missing. It seemed to be working.

We went to the pond. Cows had recently stirred up mud along the dam and kicked some of the pressure sensor cable out of the conduit. We pulled the slack back into the box, fixed the conduit and piled some rocks on it.

We left at about 11:45 PDT
