Summary: Placed batteries in action packer, fixed wash reservoir leak, cool and drizzly
2023-05-03 East End Joe and I arrived at 13:45 PDT. It was mostly overcast with alternating weak sunshine and errant raindrops. Today was a maintenance day to put the batteries in an action packer and to fix the wash reservoir. The staff gauge read 53cm. We waded over to the solar panel scaffolding and used the charge controller to turn the load off. We moved the four sealed batteries into the action packer and drilled a few holes for ventilation, the solar cable, and the grounding cable. We turned the load back on and saw it was pulling about 1.4A after a few minutes of start up time. I checked that the mux was clicking and the USB LED light was blinking as usual. I did not download data. The wash reservoir has been leaking for a while, even after I tried replacing the filter. Joe removed the reservoir and saw that the old filter had come apart. It must have broken shortly after I replaced it last time--maybe the filter needs to be handled more delicately. Joe taped a new filter with some aluminum tape to keep the top and bottom halves secured and installed it. We refilled the wash reservoir and it didn't seem like it was leaking anymore. We left at 14:55 PDT. |
