Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, swapped 7500 for calibration, some new reeds coming up

East End

Carlos and I arrived at 13:45 PDT. It was mostly sunny and mild with a cool breeze. After yet another atmospheric river last week, I think there will finally be a pause in major rain events (or maybe it will never rain again). The staff gauge read 64cm. Some green vegetation is starting to come up through last year’s thatch.

I downloaded met, cam, USB GHG, and miniDOT data. We swapped the desiccant for the miniDOT and water level sensors. I checked the conductivity sensor as part of its routine check every 3 months; the orifice looked clean. The met box had some insects (earwigs and small spiders) so I left them some mothballs.

The reservoir was empty; Carlos refilled it. Still need to figure out where the leak is.

Carlos cleaned flux and rad sensors and reported that both the SWin and LWin were dirty with old bird poop.

Carlos checked the 7700 fuse and one of its screws, which were both dry. The urban tower 7700 on the Berkeley Way West building had a lot of water damage from this winter’s storms, so today we are checking all of the Delta 7700s. Since the fuse, fuse cap, and one of the 7700 screws was dry, we decided the 7700 interior is probably dry.

We swapped the LI-7500A for calibration: sn 75H-2669 came off and sn 75H-2176 went on. I uploaded the new config file, updated the pressure coefficients, and reset the 7550. All looked ok. I then changed the eddy clock -1:30min from 13:07:30 to 13:05 to match the laptop time and restarted logging.

0035 dirty read: 425ppm CO2, 190mmol/m3 H2O, 16.4C, 101.9kPa, 111SS
0035 clean read: 429ppm CO2, 170mmol/m3 H2O, 15.0C, 101.9kPa, 112SS
0418 fresh read: 423ppm CO2, 205mmol/m3 H2O, 15.0C, 101.9kPa, 100SS
The 7700 read: 2.0ppm CH4, 28RSSI – 86 after cleaning

We left at 14:05 PDT.
