Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, some new reeds coming up, noisy frogs, some corrupt photos on Canon card--deleted, swapped 7500 for calibration
2023-04-03 West Pond Carlos and I arrived at 13:00 PDT. It took a little longer than usual from Maybery because there was bridge work on the Threemile Slough Bridge. We waited about 15 minutes. After yet another atmospheric river last week, I think there will finally be a pause in major rain events (or maybe it will never rain again). It was mostly sunny and mild with a cool breeze. Some green vegetation is starting to come up through last year’s thatch. The frogs were singing exuberantly. The staff gauge read 77cm. I downloaded met, cam, picam, and USB GHG data. Several of the Canon camera photos were corrupted (3/20 19:15 and 19:45, 3/24 09:15, and 4/2 7:45 and 8:15). The files had reasonable sizes but couldn’t be opened, copied, or moved. Since there were just a few of them (and none during midday), I deleted the corrupt photos. I downloaded the miniDOT data and we swapped the desiccant for the miniDOT and water level sensors. I checked the conductivity sensor as part of its routine check every 3 months; the orifice looked clean. The reservoir was 4/5 full; I refilled it. Carlos cleaned flux and rad sensors. Carlos checked the 7700 fuse and one of its screws, which were both dry. The urban tower 7700 on the Berkeley Way West building had a lot of water damage from this winter’s storms, so today we are checking all of the Delta 7700s. Since the fuse, fuse cap, and one of the 7700 screws was dry, we decided the 7700 interior is probably dry. We swapped the LI-7500A for calibration: sn 0065 came off and sn 75H-2180 went on. I uploaded the new config file, updated the pressure coefficients, changed the eddy clock +1min around 12:10 PST to match the laptop time, and reset the 7550. All looked ok. 0035 dirty read: 425ppm CO2, 190mmol/m3 H2O, 16.4C, 101.9kPa, 111SS 0035 clean read: 429ppm CO2, 170mmol/m3 H2O, 15.0C, 101.9kPa, 112SS 0418 fresh read: 423ppm CO2, 205mmol/m3 H2O, 15.0C, 101.9kPa, 100SS The 7700 read: 2.0ppm CH4, 28RSSI – 86 after cleaning We left at 13:30 PDT. |
