Bouldin Alfalfa: 2023-01-19 13:50:00 (DOY 19)

Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, cold and windy, replaced PL Arable solar panel
2023-01-19 Bouldin Alfalfa Kyle and I arrived at 13:50 PST. It was cold with a cold breeze and partly cloudy with thin patchy clouds above and fluffy cumulus clouds on the horizon to our east and south. There are a few more large farm equipment parked up on the levee road to get them on higher ground. We parked on the side of the field and walked in to follow Dennis' advice to avoid compacting the soil. The alfalfa plants are still super short. No sheep within eyesight today. Today we trimmed the alfalfa under the tower (nothing to trim under the Arable). Kyle noticed some pellets (regurgitated bird's food) on the ground below the radiometer boom. The pellet had fur and some tiny bones. Kyle installed a new solar panel for the Arable. The old solar panel had its connector chewed off by sheep. She also removed a decapitated mouse that was on top of the Arable. I downloaded met, cam, USB GHG, FD and IRT data. I changed the eddy clock +45sec to match the laptop time and restarted logging afterwards. Kyle cleaned rad sensors; the 7500 did not need cleaning. We skipped spectral and veg height. The 7500 read: 425ppm CO2, 417mmol/m3 H2O, 13.1C, 102.2kPa, 104SS We left at 14:40 PST. The gravel road between the barn and the overpass had some areas of differently colored gravel--pothole repair? |
