Bouldin Corn: 2022-11-02 16:00:00 (DOY 306)
Author: Daphne Szutu
Others: Joe, Carlos, Ari
Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, field still not disked
2022-11-02 Bouldin Corn Joe, Carlos, Ari, and I arrived at 16:00 PDT. It was a cool, overcast, and breezy day with many cumulus clouds after yesterday's rain. There was a little rain the day before, a few sprinkles and some nice rainbows earlier in the afternoon. More rain is expected this weekend and next week. Lots of ducks and geese flying overhead. The field has not been disked yet. Tyler and Tibisay were also on site checking on their equipment. Tyler said this year the farmers had harvested the corn for grain and baled the stems. There were a whole pile of bales by the highway overpass. I thought I'd wait another 4 weeks to see if they disk before putting our soil sensors out. They don't usually start flooding until mid-late December. Carlos downloaded the usual data - met, cam, USB GHG, FD, and IRT. He also checked and synched the eddy and phenocam clocks with the laptop time. The eddy clock was changed +30sec (logging restarted) and the phenocam clock was changed +2min from 15:31 to 15:33. Ari cleaned flux and rad sensors. I reinstalled PA sn 84f3ebd5ffb1 in its usual place on the southwest corner of the tower just below the top boardwalk. Joe was able to see its live data from his cell phone. Joe also chased a large rat out of the power box and put a rock in the cable hole to try to prevent reoccupation. He also lowered the Planet Labs Arable by 1m. The 7500 read: 407ppm CO2, 440mmol/m3 H2O, 15.7C, 101.6kPa, 99.6SS -- 100 after cleaning The 7700 read: 2.0ppm CH4, 55RSSI – 82 after cleaning We left at 16:35 PDT. |
