Hill Slough: 2022-11-02 17:20:00 (DOY 306)

Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, cold and windy, rearranged water sensors in channel
2022-11-02 Hill Slough Joe, Carlos, Ari, and I arrived at 17:20 PDT. It was almost dusk, getting cold, and the cold breeze didn't help. There were many cumulus clouds after yesterday's rain and a few sprinkles and some nice rainbows earlier in the afternoon. More rain is expected this weekend and next week. It was near low tide and the water level was too low to read on the staff gauge. Joe and Ari worked on checking and rearranging the channel sensors. Previously we had hung the miniDOT, eosGP, and CTD sensor on the same yellow chain from the same eyebolt. Since we need to pull the miniDOT up every month to download data, the depth of the other sensors kept changing. Today they moved the eosGP and CTD sensor to a second eyebolt where they should have a stable depth. The depth of all water sensors (miniDOT, eosGP, CTD, and EXO) were all about the same, between 178-183cm below the boardwalk. Ari reported there was a fish living in the excess pantyhose on top of the miniDOT. Not too many shrimps in the eosGP sensor. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. Carlos cleaned flux and rad sensors. Ari sampled some water from the sipper for a pore-water conductivity measurement back in the lab. We don't have the handheld YSI probe right now so we've been labeling the tubes and stashing them in the fridge for now. Sample, temperature-compensated conductivity, temperature, notes Porewater, 20.53 mS,,Sample stored in fridge before being measured 16:45 PST The 7500 read: 411ppm CO2, 359mmol/m3 H2O, 15.1C, 101.9kPa, 99SS -- 101 after cleaning The 7700 read: 1.97ppm CH4, 44RSSI – 72 after cleaning We left at 17:45. |
