Summary: Swapped 7500 for calibration, installed PurpleAir sensor, field not flooded yet but probably soon, gate has new chain + padlock
2021-12-14 Bouldin Corn Carlos and I arrived at 12:15 PST. It was chilly with a cold breeze. It was sunny with some clouds overhead and cumulus clouds covering the lower 1/3 part of the sky. There was an atmospheric river in the past 48 hours that delivered about 50-75 mm (2-3 inches) of rain here. The red gate by the overpass was closed and locked with a chain and padlock. The padlock did not open using the combo we usually use on the electronic gate, so we parked by the gate and walked in. Some of the fields south of Hwy 12 have been flooded, but our field and the field directly to our west were still dry. Our field will probably be flooded soon. Carlos cleaned flux and rad sensors and topped off the wash reservoir, which had been about 1/2 empty. I downloaded met, camera, and USB GHG data. I downloaded the FD data and cleared its memory. I downloaded the IRT data by swapping the microSD card and using CardConvert to convert the fast data to TOB1 and the slow data to TOA5. I installed the PurpleAir sensor sn 84f3ebd5ffb1. This sensor had some corrosion on one of the power connectors inside the sensor (it got rained on after the BC tower fell over), so Joe bypassed it by attaching one long mini-USB-to-USB cable. I used the step drill bit to drill a bigger hole in the enclosure to insert the USB end into the enclosure for power. After it was powered, the sensor had the appropriate blinky lights and I was able to connect via wifi. We swapped the LI-7500 for calibration: sn 0041 came off and sn 0042 went on the tower. I uploaded a new configuration file and updated the pressure coefficients. I changed the 7550 clock +15sec to match the laptop time. I reset the 7550 and checked that the USB was logging and the 7700 was connected. LI-7500 readings (0041-> 0041 clean --> 0042): CO2 408ppm --> 410 --> 411 H2O 324ppm --> 332 --> 337 T 10.0C --> 10.1 --> 10.4 P 101.1kPa --> 101.1 --> 101.1 SS 102--> 102--> 102 LI7700 readings: CH4 1.95ppm RSSI 16--> 76 after cleaning We left at 12:45 PST. |
