Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, tower losing overnight/predawn power, still dry at the tower, many wasps

East End

I arrived at 11:45 PDT. It was a sunny and breezy day with blue skies. There is no water under the tower still and the plants are about ½ brown. There were many wasps buzzing about. They were congregated under the datalogger box, inside the HMP shield, and between the deep-cycle batteries. I scooted the batteries apart to make it less comfortable for them. I reapplied duct putty inside the datalogger box cable entries and left some mothballs inside.

I collected met, camera, and USB GHG data. I cleaned flux and rad sensors and topped off the wash reservoir. I swapped the HMP 24V fan we installed last time for a more appropriate 12V fan, since this tower runs on 12V.

This tower is still losing overnight/pre-dawn power. The solar charge controller numbers looked ok, but there was a little new corrosion on one of the batteries. I conferred with Joe and we decided that he will test the batteries next week on his way to/from Tonzi. He will unhook all the batteries in the morning, then come back in the afternoon to test their charge after they’ve been sitting for a while, disconnected from each other.

LI-7500 readings:
CO2 401ppm
H2O 556ppm
T 28.5C
P 101.7kPa
SS 96 --> 100
LI7700 readings:
CH4 1.90ppm
RSSI 37 --> 78 after cleaning

We need an empty battery box to bring back the old battery we removed last time.

I left at 12:55 PDT.
