Summary: Quick stop to rebury zPAR sensor
2020-08-11 Bouldin Alfalfa I arrived at 13:25 PDT. It was a mild and breezy day. It smelled faintly like a fish shop, until I realized someone had left their fish leftovers of bones and guts on top of the met box (i.e., a bird on the scaffolding or tower post above the met box). I rinsed most of it away. There were no bales on the field, and the alfalfa was about 5-10cm tall. There were wasps flying around the SE post of the tower, but I didn’t see any nests. This was just a quick stop to check on the zPAR sensor. The Arable photos showed it had been dragged out again by the raking. I buried the cable again, this time leaving less slack in the cable near the sensor head, so the sensor is in a slightly different position now (about 5cm closer to the tower). I checked the datalogger numbers: zPAR was 9 and PARin was 16. zPAR seemed a little low given that the sensor was mostly exposed. I cleaned the solar panels and left some mothballs in the met box for the ants there. The met and GHG numbers looked ok, and the wash reservoir was full. The Apogee NDVI numbers seemed reasonable. I cleaned the 7700. LI-7500 readings: CO2 386ppm H2O 764ppm T 28.5C P 101.1kPa SS 101 LI7700 readings: CH4 1.90ppm RSSI 36-->78 after cleaning I left at 14:05. |
