Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, 7700 calibration, swapped 7500 for calibration, upgraded 7700 and 7550 firmware, spectral, cows still on field

Joe and I arrived at 9:00 PDT. It was a sunny, mild, and breezy day. There were some cirrus clouds to the east, but it was otherwise clear. There were still cows on our field, and they’ve finally trimmed down the weeds between the tower and the entrance fence. That was good news because Joe could drive the cal gases right up to the tower. The grass is short and there is a lot of litter covering the ground. We pulled some weeds from inside the enclosure. There were several tractors working in the distance to the NW, probably starting wetland construction. Looks like they were digging drainage ditches and disking.

I downloaded met, cam, gamecam, and USB GHG data. Joe cleaned the flux sensors and cleaned and leveled the radiometers. The wash reservoir was 80% full, and we refilled it. I changed the water level sensor desiccant. There were many earwigs in the datalogger box; I left them some mothballs. Joe took spectral measurements.

We calibrated the 7700 sn TG1-0357. The offsets were small. We also swapped the 7500 for calibration: sn 75H-2669 came off and sn 75H-2668 went on. I sent a new configuration file, updated the pressure coefficients, and reset the 7550 box. There was a clock sync error, and another 7550 box reset solved the error. I confirmed the 7700 was connected and the USB was logging.

After calibrating, I updated the 7700 sn TG1-0357 firmware from 1.0.27 to 1.0.29. I also updated the 7550 sn AIU-1557 firmware from 8.5.0 to 8.8.32. This is one of our sites that has a consistent clock sync error, and we’re hoping this 7550 firmware will solve this clock sync problem without creating new problems. After the update, I checked that the GHG columns and other site setup choices looked ok, USB was logging, 7700 was connected, and GHG numbers looked reasonable. I will be back in a week to download data and check on the upgrade.

LI-7500 readings (sn 75H-2669 --> sn 75H-2669 after cleaning --> sn 75H-2668):
CO2 387ppm --> 422 --> 426
H2O 863ppm --> 598 --> 573
T 20.2C --> 20.3 --> 21.0
P 101.9kPa --> 101.9 --> 101.6
SS 88--> 101 --> 101

LI7700 readings (before calibration -->after cleaning --> after calibration):
CH4 2.01ppm --> 2.04 --> 1.99
RSSI 31--> 80--> 77

We left at 10:00 PDT.
