Ana and I arrived at 9:30. It was partly sunny and mild with no wind and low overcast moving in from the west. There have been several days of rain and more to come. The ground surface is wet but there are few puddles and the ground water level is still going down. The trees have more leaves than I would expect after the recent storms and there were more green leaves on the ground. I did not notice any sprouting grass or herbs. We heard and saw a large limb (>20cm diameter) fall from a tree south of the road near Liu Kangâ€™s tree. There was also another oak down near the gate on Irish Hill Road.

Ana collected samples for measuring emissivity in the lab â€“ soil, dead grass, oak leaves, pine needles, bark. We also removed the FLIR thermal camera from its case for use in the lab. Ana also did the soil moisture measurements and serviced the z-cams.

I collected the data from the eddy systems, the tower computer and assorted data loggers. The Tower 7500 had wet windows. I lowered the post and cleaned the windows. Also the Tower 7550 box door was open. There was very little water in the box, no evidence of corrosion and the system was running. I wiped out what water there was and put in a desiccant pack from the JPL box.

I pulled the Moisture Point probe sn 000000574B4B that was near the Floor solar panels. This probe has three broken pins and hasn't be used for a while but this is the first time the ground has been wet enough to pull it by hand.

I wanted to collect the data from the Forced Diffusion chambers but didnâ€™t leave a serial adapter in the box and didnâ€™t have one with me. I ended up cutting off the circular connectors and using the screw terminal to DB9 adapter from the Tower sonic. This worked well.

I also read the dendrometers and measured the road and tower wells. I cleaned the radiometers and the phenocam. The tower HMP45 fan was not running initially but after wiggling wires a bit it started running again. I cleaned the Phenocam window inside and out â€“ the FOV might change a little.
