East Pond: 2019-09-04 13:30:00 (DOY 247)

Summary: Standard data collection, water low, wasps high, tried to level scaffolding but one jack is broken, upgraded 7700 firmware.
East Pond 2019-09-04 Daphne, Alex and I arrived at 13:30 PDT. It was clear, sunny, hot and humid with a few clouds and almost no breeze. The water level was 38cm – relatively low, water sensors high and dry. The wetland is still very green. The 7500 read: 405ppm CO2, 755mmol/m3 H2O, 33.9C, 101.3kPa, 96SS – 98 after cleaning The 7700 read: 2.16ppm CH4, 43RSSI – 70 after cleaning We updated the 7700 sn TG1-0211 firmware from v1.0.23 to v1.0.27. After update and reset the 7700 read: 2.3ppm CH4, 69RSSI. There were ants in the box but we didn’t have any moth balls with us (we did but didn’t know). There were also a lot of wasps around and the wash box was chocked-full with them. The wash reservoir was nearly full so we did not need to refill it. We left the box top open but the boardwalk partly blocks it so the wind may blow it closed again. Alex sprayed the box with water to annoy the wasps before we left. The tower is leaning to the east that side of the scaffolding having sunk a bit. Alex and I dug out the jacks and were able to operate the one on the southeast corner raising the scaffolding some. The jack on the northeast corner is seized and broken – both the wingnut and screw threads are turning together. I need to bring the sheep herder jack and some aluminum posts to do a good job of releveling the scaffolding. We left at 14:20 |
