Bouldin Alfalfa: 2019-04-03 10:10:00 (DOY 93)
Author: Daphne Szutu
Others: Kyle, Camilo
Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, clip plots, veg height, spectral, LAI-2200, alfalfa tall and beautiful
2019-04-03 Bouldin Alfalfa Kyle, Camilo, and I arrived at 10:10. It was an overcast day with intermittent sun. The alfalfa was tall and beautiful, with large leaves. They will probably mow soon. The alfalfa under the tower was a little shorter than the surrounding alfalfa. The Nikon camera was out of batteries (“Battery exhaustedâ€) so we did not take a reference GCC photo. Camilo took 5 clip plot samples and 20 vegetation height measurements. Kyle took spectral measurements. I took LI-2200 measurements (SW direction). The wash reservoir was 2/3 full; we refilled it. Kyle cleaned flux and rad sensors. The camera was again pointing down at the ground; Kyle adjusted it and used silicone to glue some bird spikes on top. I collected met, camera, USB GHG, and FD data. I connected directly to the 7700 to try to upgrade the firmware, but still couldn’t connect to the sensor. Next time I will try a new 7700-ethernet cable. LI-7500 readings: CO2 418ppm H2O 530ppm T 18.3C P 101.8kPa SS 98--> 98 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 2.15ppm RSSI 57-->81 after cleaning We left at 10:50. |

Alfalfa under the tower is slightly shorter than the surrounding alfalfa. The surrounding alfalfa is the first crop of the year, so it's especially vigorous.
