Summary: Added racks and shelves to box, moved computer into wood box, swapped out or FMA for Frank's FGGA, changed CR1000 program, adjusted web cam.
| Twitchell 8/6/2009 I arrived about 8am. Clear sunny breezy to windy - maybe a little from the south. Rice is beginning to flower - still spotty but maybe 50% flowered in a week or so. I added racks/shelves to the new box. Moved the laptop inside the box. I need to reroute power directly to the data logger box, then I can completely remove the Campbell enclosure the computer was originally in. Met Atsushi Maruyama (visiting scientist to Pa U lab from Japan). He will setup heat/energy study within rice canopy next week - lots of thermocouples (leaf, panicle, water) and moisture sensors. Met Frank and borrowed three-channel LGR sn 09-0012 from him. Swapped out one-channel sn 08-0114 for three-channel LGR and modified CR1000 program for additional channels. Swapped cards before uploading new program. New program with three-channel LGR seems to be missing data more frequently - maybe once every 5 or 6 readings. Not sure why. Frank gave me all the data from his tower at Twitchell so far. It will be on the Data PC shortly. Got a call from Rob Rhew. He will be at Twitchell on Monday for more sampling. Talked to Kobi from UCD (Cynthia has left the project). Kobi said that their chamber work seems to show similar complications in CH4 flux. Mostly low and kind of spotty. Also interested in the transport of CH4 through the rice stems. Kobi will send me a map of where the different varieties or rice are planted as CH4 transport may be dependent on variety. Adjusted web cam for better image composition. Left for Sherman about 2pm |
