West Pond: 2019-01-18 14:20:00 (DOY 18)

Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, added fan to camera enclosure
2019-01-18 West Pond Dennis, Kuno, Camilo, Jiangong, and I arrived at 14:20. The wetland had been blown down and we could clearly see the tall white PVC frames set up in the pond. It was calm and overcast, and the mosquitoes started showing up halfway through our visit. The inlet was running, but only a trickle. The water level was 29 cm, enough to have standing water under the tower. There was an interesting, gelatinous black fungus growing on the boardwalk. I downloaded met, camera, and USB GHG data. Kuno cleaned the flux and rad sensors and added a 24V fan to the camera enclosure to try to prevent dew from forming on the enclosure window. The wash reservoir was empty; Kuno refilled it. LI-7500 readings: CO2 433ppm H2O 494ppm T 17.1C P 102.6kPa SS 83--> 85 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 1.98ppm RSSI 27--> 73 We left at 14:35. |

Fan in camera enclosure to try to prevent condensation on enclosure window, which has been obscuring the camera's view.

Weird fungus growing on the boardwalk. Two weeks after this photo was taken, the fungus had shrunk down and dried up, looking like black liquid electrical tape painted onto the boardwalk.
