Twitchell Rice
2016-03-24

I arrived about 11:15. The field is drained but still muddy. I talked to Bruce. He said they are still a couple of weeks from working in the field, but maybe next time we should move our stuff out of the field. Bruce says rice prices are going down, but the State wants them to plant rice for some reason and will pay some of his costs. He plans to “burn down” the field, I think this means spray it with a heavy herbicide to get rid of the weeds. Then they will use a no till planting technique that does not disturb the soil.

At the tower I moved the camera post to the solar power base. It still needs one more brace, but it is pretty good. I did this so that the old box could be dismantled and so that the shadow from the camera post does not shade to solar panels. I installed a new Canon Powershot N camera with a spring holding down the power button. This should cause the camera to restart anytime the power goes out and comes back on.

There were some wasps in the data logger box. The 7700 RSSI was 20 and the wash reservoir was empty. I refilled the reservoir and cleaned the 7700. Afterwards the RSSI was 72.9
