Summary: Mild and dry, standard fieldwork, not much happening, reset tree 5 dendrometer, removed old co2 profile solenoid box, tried to update RevBowen code on floor and tower met.

Kuno and I arrived at about 11:20 PST. It was mostly clear and sunny with a steady breeze from the west at the tower top. Almost no breeze on the ground. This has been a long dry period since the beginning of the month (about 20 days). The puddles on the road are mostly gone. There are lots of cow hoof prints around but all the fences seem to have held. The grass is still short and the tips have yellowed with cold and or dryness.

I collected the tower top data: flux and camera data and cleaned the radiometers. The wash reservoir was full.
The 7500 read: 443.1ppm CO2, 257.1mmol/m3 H2O, 11.3C, 100.3kPa, 99.9SS - 100.4 after cleaning
The 7700 read: 2.12ppm CH4, 37.2RSSI - 86.1 after cleaning

I did the manual soil moisture, well depths and DBH, I collected the FD data and serviced the zcams. I reset the DBH band on tree #5 it was almost off scale.

I collected the Floor flux and well data. I collected the tree bole temperature data - about 6C difference from south and north sides of the trees. The wash reservoir was full.

The Floor 7700 needs new desiccant - it has been reading about 31% since before the last visit! At least the water vapor in the air has been low - cold and dry.

Kuno did his usual rounds of flux chambers on the tree trunks and soil collars. He also did some Pine trunks and a couple more possible ant mounds - pretty much all zero - cold and dry.

I removed the solenoid box from the old CO2 profile system on the tower. This required tracing a bunch of wires that went up the tower and one that was plugged into the power strip in the solar controller box. I'm pretty sure that power plug was only giving power to the unused solenoid box so I removed it along with the box. Some of the long wires running up the tower I left in place. More work to be done.

I tried to update data logger programs on the Tower and Floor for the reverse Bowen ratio method. The calculations being used did not match the ones I had recently sent to Carlos, but I'm still unclear which ones are correct. Need to ask Carlos.
