| Tonzi 2024-12-03 Kuno and I arrived at about 11:00 PST. It was a surprisingly warm and sunny fall day. The Valley was very hazy. There was an atmospheric river about two weeks ago. There were some puddles along Twin Cities Road but no puddles here. The trees are very much brown or almost leafless. The grass has sprouted but is still only 0-5cm high - mostly zero. Kuno did his rounds of stem and soil fluxes. He said some trees were big CH4 sources. The soils were large CO2 sources and slightly elevated CH4 sinks. He also pounded in ten new T-posts to enlarge the cow fence to surround all the trees he and Ana Maria are equipping. We put on two strands of barbed wire (one high and one low) and a wire for electricity in the middle. I didn't have a tested fence charger yet so that will have to wait until next time. I didn't see any change in Ana Maria's stuff and haven't heard how she is doing. I collected the Tower flux and camera data. The wash reservoir was about a quarter low - refilled The 7500 read: 466.0ppm CO2, 451.1mmol/m3 H2O, 16.3C, 99.5kPa, 101.0SS - 101.5 after cleaning The 7700 read: 2.27ppm CH4, 56.0RSSI - 86.1 after cleaning I collected the Floor flux and well data. The was reservoir was about third low - refilled The 7500 read: 470.2ppm CO2, 459.0mmol/m3 H2O, 17.9C, 99.6kPa, 100.4SS - 100.8 after cleaning The 7700 read: 2.28ppm CH4, 51.0RSSI - 85.1 after cleaning I collected the bole temp data. The two power packs were not quite full. The west one still should have a better solar panel mount. Now that these are all inside the new fence I might just run power lines to them. I read the dendrometers, measured the wells, did the soil moisture and collected the FD and met data. I think I should try again to discontinue the Moisture Point measurements. I checked on the SWP C sn G20007096 sensor on the OSU SP1 system that has been recording NaN. It is SDI-12 and has a good temperature, no signs of damage to the cable or loose wires. I think it has just failed. We removed it for testing. I did a full collection on the MedPine TOMST dendrometer to see if it would fill in a gap in the data. I also checked on HISE #2 that lost some data. I didn't see any problems but unplugged and replugged the connector - need to check the data next time. I turned on the fence chargers at the tower and soil CO2 locations - the meters were in the green but I'm not sure the batteries are going to last. We left at about 14:50 PST. |
