12/21/2010 I arrived about 8am. The new gravel on the crossing at the north is great. The road along the side of the field was just passable is a small car. It was cool and windy with the wind from the east-southeast. I could smell the generator at the tower. It was overcast with some fog here and there, but looked to be clearing. No birds in sight. There were lots of sheep or deer droppings on the ground near our site. Also there were some shotgun shells on the ground to the north of the box. The generator was running, but all the AC equipment in the box was cold and dark. There was a little bit of water in the bottom left corner of the box that had gotten the power strip wet. The air conditioner plug had a green light indicating power but would not turn on and did not seem to reset. The power strip showed 150VAC. Everything but the air conditioner is rated to 220 so should be able to handle it. The LGR had a blown fuse in its power plug. I replace the fuse and disconnected the external pump. Upon plugging it in, it lugged the generator slightly and blew the new fuse. I’m not sure what is wrong with it, if anything, and I don’t know what is wrong with the air conditioner. It’s not something I can fix before the holidays, so I told Jim we won’t need the generator until mid-January and shut down the generator. The LGR’s intake tubing had also broken inside the box. The computer seemed to have a full battery and the rest of the system was running on solar. Batteries: 12.3V, solar 0.9A, load 0.8A. I swapped the CR1000 card and let the computer collect the latest data. Then I shut down the computer to save its battery while the generator is down. The fan on the HMP45 was not working so I disconnected it in case it was pulling some power. The HMP45 wasn’t working either, its wiring was okay, but zero voltages on output. The sensor elements were clean and dry. I left it in place. I picked up our inverter that was left by the big generator when we stopped using the DC sign generator. The tipping bucket and radiometers were clean. |
