Summary: Year end data collection, 7500 swapped for calibration, diffuse PAR motor dying.
Mayberry 2024-01-04 Dennis and I arrived at 14:00. We chased a big coyote down the road into the wetland. It was clear sunny and mild with little to no wind. Water level is lower at 18cm. There are two big barnacles on the staff gauge just at the water line. I cleaned some cattail fluff off of the sonic range sensor. Dennis lowered the eddy post to work on the sensors. He cleaned the radiometers and saw that the tipping bucket was clean. We swapped the 7500 for calibration: sn 0073 came off and sn 0041 went on. 0073 read: 423.3ppm Co2, 306.0mmol/m3 H2O, 16.0C, 101.7kPa, 98.2SS 0041 read: 436.6ppm CO2, 305.7mmol/m3 H2O, 17.4C, 101.7kPa, 102.5SS I updated the pressure coefficients and reset the box. The 7700 read: 2.0ppm CH4, 53.4RSSI – 70 after cleaning. Dennis refilled the wash reservoir. I collected the flux, met, camera and miniDot data. I cleaned the picam window but it looks like there might be a dust mote on the inside. We might glue a hood above the window to help keep it cleaner too. The diffuse PAR shadow band has been stuck for a while. I didn’t see anything wrong so increased the power in the PWM motor controller. The shadow band started spinning but the motor was making a bad clicking sound. Cheap motors – I’ll let it go until it breaks. Bring a new motor next time. We left at 14:42 |
