Summary: Cows back on the land, dried out zcam 1 box and installed new A540 camera, add FD from VR to Tree 1 location.

I arrived at 13:15 PST. It was a mild and sunny winter day with a few high wispy clouds coming in from the west. A little more water accumulated in the puddles on the road but the ground is still mostly dry. The trees still have many leaves. I think it’s been warm and there hasn’t been a strong storm to knock them off yet. I met Rob who was cutting fire wood. He said is grandson was having a modular house built and was installing solar panels and batteries for off grid. Rob also said pesky cows were back on the ranch.

The zcam 1 box was still wet inside. I think the foam that supported the camera had acted as a sponge. I removed the foam, squeezed and shook it out and put it in the sun on top of the car to dry. I wipe the water out of the box and let it all dry until the end of the day. Just before I left I swapped the desiccant in the metal tin with dry desiccant from the jar in the blue bag. Put the now dry foam back with a new (used) A540 camera. I tested it and it seemed to work. We will see next time if we get photos and it stays dry.

I collected the Tower and Floor flux data, and the phenocam images.
The Tower read: 432.6ppm CO2, 365.8mmol/m3 H2O, 16.6C, 99.2kPa, 100.5SS

I did the moisture point, well and DBH readings. I collected the FD data from the open location. Then I installed the FD chamber sn FD20200001 from Varia in the Tree 1 location. It’s on the same bit of soil – no change in location.

Cows had broken the soil co2 fence and twisted the net radiometer to the east. I put the net radiometer back in its usual position, patched the fence back together and turn on the fence charger.

I was going to try to add a solar panel to one of the point dendrometers but forgot the connector I needed.

I left at about 16:00
