Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, visitors from UCSC, a few small plants coming up, lots of water
2023-03-17 West Pond I arrived at 13:10 PDT with Luna and J.J. from UCSC, who are technicians responsible for the Elkhorn Slough towers. It was mild with a cool breeze. We’ve had more rain in the past two weeks and more to come. There are a few tiny tules coming up through the thatch, and the water level is still pretty high. The platform is flooded and the water level is touching the bottom of the “temporary” plank/boardwalk pathway that Joe set up over the platform. The staff gauge read 89cm. There were a few ants in the met box—I left them some mothballs. Luna and J.J. cleaned flux and rad sensors. The reservoir was mostly full and I did not top it off. There are some wasps in the wash box. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. The picam download failed halfway through, and then I couldn’t reconnect to the camera. All seemed ok after I power-cycled the camera. I downloaded all of the photos and cleared its memory. Maybe just a random hiccup. I want to leave both the Canon and picam cameras up for a few more months so I can analyze the intercomparison through the green-up period. I changed the eddy clock +1min to match the laptop time and restarted logging afterwards. The 7500 read: 430ppm CO2, 468mmol/m3 H2O, 19.9C, 101.8kPa, 109SS--111 after cleaning The 7700 read: 2.0ppm CH4, 35RSSI--86 after cleaning We left at 13:50 PDT. |
