Bouldin Corn

I arrived at 12:30 PST. It was mostly calm and clear but with hazy horizons. There were strings of waterfowl flying overhead.

Our field and most fields south of Hwy 12 are still flooded. Our field is ankle deep in water but the field north of us has only puddles left. Our field is being drained. There is a drain in the southeast corner of the field and water was flowing out at a good clip, loud enough to hear from the tower.

Another researcher drove by who was looking for collared Aleutian Geese. These birds were previously endangered but have since rebounded. They put alphanumeric collars on a certain number of geese every year to track their migration and breeding. It sounds like the researcher has to visually identify each collar, I’m assuming with binoculars: “It causes eyestrain, but hey, beats sitting at a desk.” I didn’t ask what institution the researcher was with or who her Bouldin contact is—next time!

I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. I downloaded the PA data, power cycled it, and watched the card slot LEDs blink appropriately. I downloaded the IRT data by swapping the microSD card and using CardConvert to convert the fast data to TOB1 and the slow data to TOA5.

I cleaned the flux and rad sensors and refilled the wash reservoir, which had been 4/5 full. I changed the desiccant for the water level sensor.

LI-7500 readings:
CO2 446ppm
H2O 506ppm
T 14.6C
P 102.5kPa
SS 101 --> 103 after cleaning
LI7700 readings:
CH4 2.4ppm
RSSI 57 --> 76 after cleaning

I left around 13:15.

Looking at the data back in the lab, there are some short power outages in 2022-01-05 and 2022-01-17. Phenocam photos are missing until after the outage on 2022-01-05, but I don't know if this is related to the card or the outage or something else. The second outage on 2022-01-17 caused a slight drop in li_75p compared to li_77p. Keep an eye on li_75p b/c we don't have a Vaisala barometer here anymore.
