Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, Swapped 7500 for calibration, Changed eddy clock +1min, New datalogger program with Variance-Bowen ET stats, Hunting
2022-01-20 West Pond I arrived at 8:45 PST. It was cool with dense patchy fog along parts of Hwy 160, but otherwise clear. Soon after I arrived I could hear hunting north of the tower, pretty close by. The staff gauge read 32cm. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. I cleaned the inside of the phenocam window and tightened the camera mount inside the enclosure so I hope that stabilizes the view angle of the photo. It’s annoying to change the script ROI so frequently. I uploaded a new datalogger program that calculates and stores the statistics needed for Carlos’s Variance-Bowen ET calculations. The datalogger numbers seemed reasonable with the new program. I cleaned the flux and rad sensors—there was a lot of condensation on the rad sensors and the 7500. There were also a lot of spider webs on the rad boom, or maybe the condensation just made it more obvious than usual. The reservoir was ¼ empty; I refilled it. I swapped the desiccant for the water level sensor. I swapped the LI-7500 for calibration: sn 75H-2150 came off and sn 0035 went on the tower. I uploaded a new configuration file and updated the pressure coefficients. I changed the 7550 clock +1 min from 9:08 to 9:09 to match the laptop time. I reset the 7550 and checked that the USB was logging and the 7700 was connected. The bird spike either here or at EE broke in half during the swap. I put half of the spike on the sensor but it should be replaced next time. LI-7500 readings (75H-2150 --> 75H-2150 clean --> 0035): CO2 703ppm --> 662 -->505 (high in the morning because of low boundary layer and decreasing through the site visit as the boundary layer begins heating up and mixing) H2O 1650ppm --> 318 --> 423 T 8.9C --> 8.1 --> 8.8 P 102.8kPa --> 102.8 --> 102.8 SS 27 --> 99 after cleaning --> 99 after swap LI7700 readings: CH4 3.08ppm RSSI 69 --> 82 after cleaning I left at 9:25 PST. A helicopter flew by overhead as I was packing up. |
