Summary: Biomass samples, re-wired barometer
2021-08-25 Bouldin Corn Joe and I arrived at 11:35 PDT. It was warm and sunny with a bit of a breeze. Today was a maintenance trip. The bottom leaves of the corn are starting to dry out, and some of the corn cobs are getting so heavy they’re falling away from the stalk and pointing silk side down. Joe took 5 corn biomass samples to calculate our total biomass of the season. I inspected the barometer because it had been inconsistent against the GHG pressure data, and we expect the 2 pressures to have a consistent linear relationship. The barometer was wired as a DE measurement on the mux but programmed as a SE measurement, which may explain its inconsistent performance. I re-wired the barometer to the datalogger and changed the program to use a VoltDiff command. After sending the new datalogger program, the air pressure was 101.5 kPa, which matched the GHG air pressure. I downloaded met, camera, and USB GHG data. I downloaded PA data and power cycled it. I skipped downloading the IRT and FD data since we’ll get those next week with the regular data collection visit. I topped off the wash reservoir and cleaned the flux and rad sensors and the inside of the phenocam enclosure. The camera view may have changed slightly. LI-7500 readings: CO2 397ppm H2O 670ppm T 23.5C P 101.5kPa SS 101.8-->103 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 1.99 RSSI 65-->80 after cleaning We left at 12:20 PDT. |
