Summary: Regular collection/cleaning, tassels and cobs corming on corn, shadowband had fallen off of dfPAR setup--fixed, veg height
| 2021-07-06 Bouldin Corn Carlos and I arrived at 15:10 PDT. It was warm and breezy. The corn is tall and green with a few visible tassels peeking out from the top of the plant. Some plants have baby cobs forming. Carlos cleaned flux and rad sensors. I downloaded met, camera, and USB GHG data. I downloaded the FD data and cleared its memory. I downloaded the PA data and power-cycled the sensor. I downloaded the undercanopy cameras and cleared their memories; the undercanopy camera clocks looked reasonable. I downloaded the IRT data and used the CardConvert utility to convert the data from binary to a nicer TOA5 format. I left the source files as is; I’m not sure when I download next time if it will be the whole file or only new data. I reinserted the card and waited for the activity LED to blink once. The dfPAR was not working at all so I double-checked all the wiring and the program since I had changed its control port on my last visit. Those all seemed fine. Then I checked the sensor itself and the shadow band had fallen off and was laying on the ground right next to the tower. We were missing the correctly sized Allen wrench, but Carlos used a small flathead screwdriver to turn the set screw and secure the band to the shaft. Looking at the data back in the lab, the band fell off on 2021-06-27 so we are missing about 2 weeks of dfPAR data. I double checked the GHG data files since Joe had swapped 7700s with Nick of Hydrofocus 2 weeks ago. The data had the right number of columns and the numbers seemed reasonable. Carlos took veg height measurements. LI-7500 readings: CO2 300ppm H2O 590ppm T 28.8C P 101.2kPa SS 101-->101 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 1.95 RSSI 35-->79 after cleaning We left at 16:25 PDT. |
