Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, hazy air, water level has gone down almost 30cm, boom sensors were out of water--lowered, camera was off so no images, fluorometer brush needs replacing
2020-10-05 Mayberry I arrived at 14:30 PDT. It was a hot and still day with blue skies overhead but hazy horizons. Mt. Diablo is not visible. The Rio Vista EPA AirNow AQI values have been creeping up from around 100 in the morning to around 150, between “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups†and “Unhealthy.†There was some otter poop on the boardwalks and I stepped into and collapsed an otter tunnel right before the boardwalk boulevard. I need to bring a shovel next time to fill it. This site was scheduled to be serviced last week, but I delayed it because of heat and bad air. The water level has gone down, and the staff gauge read 54cm. The sensors on the boom (flurometer, miniDOT, eosFD, eosGP) were all out of the water, even the eosFD with its long collar (~20cm?). I lowered the boom down about 30cm and the boom is floating again. The water level is right under the eosFD membranes. I collected met, USB GHG, FD and miniDOT data and cleared the FD data after download. I swapped the miniDOT and water level sensor desiccant. The wash reservoir was 1/3 full; I refilled it. I left some mothballs for the ants in the datalogger box. There were no camera images and the camera was off when I arrived—we probably toggled the power last time when inspecting the batteries or charge controller box and didn’t realize it. The fluorometer lenses were clean since the sensor has been out of the water, but one of the brushes had splayed needles that was partially blocking the lens with the visible red light. Next time I’ll bring replacement brushes, and I think I can swap them at the site. I didn’t collect water samples for Isabel because I had brought the wrong size vials for my caps. LI-7500 readings: CO2 390ppm H2O 740ppm T 32.1C P 101.3kPa SS 97-->100 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 2.1ppm RSSI 41-->85 after cleaning I left at 15:15 PDT. |
