Summary: Finishing up the setup, collecting data.

East Pond

I was dropped off at East Pond at about 10:30. Daphne, Sam and Elke went to West Pond and East End for leaf level measurements with the 6400s. The morning started out windy and cold but then the wind died and it was hot and sunny.

I worked on finishing up the to-do list.

I swapped the 24V fan for a 12V fan on the HMP60, added a U-bolt to its mount and ran the power wire for the fan.
I added split loom to the radiation sensors cables.
I added bird spikes to the sonic.
I added a desiccant tube to the water level pressure vent.
There were already some ants in the data logger box. I pushed putty into the wire port and left two mothballs in the box.
The PAR sensors are okay where they are, but could be mounted directly to the top and bottom of the radiation boom in the future. We will need to drill and tap for mounting holes.
I leveled the radiometers.
The eddy sensors were close to level – check the rotation angles from the sonic.
I replaced the one security bolt that was still loose on the solar panels.
I added a grounding lug to the bottom of the data logger box and connected all the grounds inside the box.
I finished adding bolts to all the scaffolding joints.
I refastened and tightened the scaffolding tie downs to the fence posts.

There are spikes in some of the am16/32 channels. I tried increasing the delay between clocking channels from 20ms to 100ms.

I collected the data from the USB miniDOT and launched the Hobo conductivity sensor sn 11020258. Both are now on a rope tied to the scaffolding near the data logger box and just below the water surface. Maybe we want to put these on a float as well.

The staff gauge read 78cm
The 7500 read: 407.7ppm CO2, 622.1mmol/m3 H2O, 24.26C, 101.8kPa, 98.5SS
The 7700 read: 1.97ppm CH4, 46.9RSSI – 73.2 after cleaning.
The LI7550 clock was one hour behind – I reset it from 11:01 to 12:01.

The sonic data was bad. I checked all the settings and configurations. I even walked to West Pond to get the serial adapter to talk to the sonic. In the end unplugging the connector on the bottom of the sonic and reseating it seemed to fix the problem.

I measure the instrument heights Above Water Level (awl) in cm and distance from the SW corner of the scaffolding Up, N, W
Sonic, 504, 38, 17
7500, 504, 49, -10
