Twitchell Alfalfa: 2017-10-04 12:05:00 (DOY 277)
Author: Joe Verfaillie
Others: Elke, Daphne
Summary: Standard fieldwork, alfalfa being baled, lots of squirrel damage to cables, FD data looks suspect.
Twitchell Alfalfa 2017-10-04 Elke and Daphne arrived at 12:05. It was clear sunny and warm with no wind. The alfalfa was cut about two weeks ago and raked last week. They were baling it today. No veg data because the alfalfa is too short, but did spectral measurements. The 7500 read: 401.4ppm CO2, 414.0mmol/m3, 23.3C, 102.0kPa, 97.3SS – 99.9 after cleaning. We added labels to the 7550 box for the pressure coefficients. We collected the FD chamber data. It had zeros every 15 to 30min and the CO2 values look bad. The wires around the boxes have all been chewed. We removed the 7500 ether net cable to avoid further damage. We taped up holes in the power cable from solar panels. All the cables need to be inspected, replaced and protected. The tipping bucket had rodent poop in it – cleaned! We had problems connecting to the soil CO2 and met CR1000s. Had to use different com port ?? |
