Summary: Computers crashed; energy difficulties as there is fog and no sun exposure.
| Dec 14., D349 Computers crashed. Now juice from fog and no sun, Dec. 21. Lianhong visited site today. Found system down since the 14th. Rebooted and down loaded data. Only copied Raw data as his zip drive filled up. Started to rain. Took Lai and plant height samples. Not sure if system and flux program is correct. Had problem finding key program. But thinks so. Need to download met data next time. Lianhong visited Vaira grassland site, 21/12/2000, Friday. Partly cloudy. Arrived at the site around 11:00am. Checked the power first. Battery voltage ok, but load current ~ 0.8 amp. Found computer off. Checked files stored under /Vaira and found the last day when data recorded was 12-13 –2000 and the file was G3482200.raw. Later met Mr. Vaira. And he told me there had been several very foggy days but he didn’t remember the exact date. Downloaded the *.raw data to the zip disk. Not enough space for met data. Created raw subdirectory under Vaira and move the *.raw data files to /raw. Tried to delete the *.raw data files under /Vaira. Suddenly rained and in a panic pressed the wrong button and deleted the Vaira directory. Restored the computer in the box and run into the car for shelter. Rain lasted for about an hour or also. After rain tried to restore deleted files from recycle bin (partially successful). Removed the 75H-0035 from the tower and installed the calibrated 75H-0042. Rebooted the computer and Gillsonic could not start automatically (could not find Gillsonic.exe under Vaira). Started Gillsonic but not sure if it was working. Fixed CR-23x P1 black wire. Took four leaf area samples and measured canopy heights. Dec 26, 2000, 1000 to 1100 Clear day, mild temps. No cows. There was a power outage of the PC on 3482230 hours. Lianhong returned to the site on 3561100 and rebooted and started the flux system. |
