Sherman Island – 11-25-2008 – Joe V
I arrived at Sherman Island about 8:30am. Our lock is still not in the loop. Morning was warm with bright overcast, light wind – windmills were turning. Cows to the west and north. Pasture looks worked over by cows, pepper weed brown, lost most of its leaves. Ground not very wet. Left about 2:30pm, colder and darker, windmills not turning. The fence charger dial is stuck at max, but it seems to be clicking and working. The gate around the power pole was wide open – fastened it with two pieces of wire top and bottom. Turned AC from Cool - HI to Cool - Low. Unfortunately the batteries in my camera died so no photos. I set up the tripod about 1m to the north of the existing IRGA and sonic. The new IRGA and sonic are in the same configuration (orientation, heights, separation) as the old. The cables are run through a new hole in the box just below the existing four data ports. The CR1000 and sonic PCI are on the rack next to the computer – a little care is needed in pulling out and putting back the keyboard/monitor drawer. I added a USB hub to the port that the CR10X1 (met data) was plugged into. The CR1000 and the CR10X1 are both connected to the hub. A new connection is setup in Loggernet for the CR1000. Two data files are written to the D:\Data folder: CR1000_Fast.dat and CR1000_Slow.dat. A bat file (D:\Programs\CR1k_mz.bat) is scheduled in Loggernet’s Tasks to rename the CR1000_Fast.dat file with the date and time and to compress it every 30 minutes: CR1000_Fast.dat -> SI_CR1K_yyyyddmm_hhmm.zip At 12:27 computer time I changed the serial setup on the LGR to use 115200 baud rate. At that time the LGR reported 24.30C 146.20 Torr and 16.303usec. Also noted that the LGR time was 13:37:35 – hour and 10 minutes fast – daylight savings time? I did not reset. The fast data is being collected at 10Hz. At 20Hz in the lab some data was being dropped. However, it looks like the serial data from the LGR is only updated at 1Hz. Might need to check with LGR about that. I moved the big green platform over to the fence near the gate, brought in the sheet of foam insulation and a posthole digger.
