Summary: Cow fence fixed - not as bad as reported, tested tipping bucket, leveled radiometers, standard fieldwork, tree still have leaves.
| Vaira 2013-10-18 I arrived about 9:00am with Siyan. It was clear, sunny and warm with a light breeze from the east shifting to the south. The trees looked better than I expected still relatively green. There was only one wire of the fence broken, but the Vairas found a section that went missing about a year ago and left it inside the fence for us. I fixed the broken wire and put the old wire under the solar panels as backup. I ran a test of the tipping bucket letting 16oz (473ml) of water to drip through it. It gave a reading of 24.892mm (only two tips short). I did not adjust its screws. These values need to be removed from the raw data. The radiometers were very close to level. I adjust the platform a little to get it closer to level. The BF3 diffuse sensor was also a little off level. I adjusted the tripod legs to get it closer to level. I made a copy of the RPi card for development purposes. I collected all the data. All looked well. Using the terminal to move the Phenocam images to the USB stick worked well, but the write is a bit delayed so one needs to wait to eject the USB stick. Siyan did the standard field work. |
