Laurie and I arrived around 14:00 PST. It was warm (~ 20 °C) with a mild breeze and a few high clouds. The field remains wet, although with fewer patches of standing water. I downloaded data and cleaned the flux and radiation instruments while Laurie did spectral measurements. The autocam was fine.

7500 readings:
CO2: 16.2 mmol m-3
H2O: 400 mmol m-3
diag: 249
sos = 344 m s-1
p = 102.8 kPa

MET was good.

I tried swapping out the sonic but had no luck. Joe has noted that the sonic data is dropping out for periods of time so we brought a replacement WMP to pull the current one in for testing. However, the message format of the replacement WMP must be currently set to a different format than the current sonic, and data for the new sonic was all reading NAN in Loggernet. I connected to both sonics with hyperterminal to determine the correct settings and set them in the new WMP. I could connect to both WMPs and see the binary data stream, however the command to put either instrument in interactive mode was not working. I actually got it to work once for the current WMP but when I put the instrument back in measurement mode I could not regain interactive mode with the same command. This may be a product of the RS422 to RS232 converter box.

Both problems (incl. data dropout) may or may not be due to ant infestation. There was a previous infestation in the RS422-232 converter box. I opened up the box again and found nothing out of sorts. However, there was another ant infestation in the connector from the converter box to the datalogger (see picture), although this would not affect my ability to communicate with the sonic with the computer. Laurie did the honors and cleaned out the current ant infestation. End result: the system remains the same, sans ants. Perhaps removal of the ants will improve the data dropouts from the current WMP.
