DWR Corn
2012-07-19

I arrived about 1:30 with Sara, Carina and Cristina. It was clear, sunny and hot with little to no wind. The corn has grown another foot. Some parts are above my head and others are still below my knee. On average I estimate that it is about shoulder high.

I collected all data.

The girls did the fieldwork. The corn is too all to get above canopy LAI readings. We need to set up the instrument to use a single above canopy reading or use the second sensor for above canopy. The spectra measurements were difficult too. Biomass samples have been reduces to five representative corn stocks, and some weeds. I think we need to consider this sampling a little more.

I talked to Jim at Twitchell and he said he thinks this corn is 105 day corn, which means it might be ready to harvest by early September.
