Summary: Insulated LGR tubing, LGR plugged in low flow, cut grass, reset one theta probe.

2011-09-29 I arrived about 7:20PST. It was sunny but a little hazy and warming. There was heavy dew on the grass and rice and almost no wind. The rice is still a little green for harvest. Jim says it may be two weeks until the start to harvest field 1. Black birds are helping themselves. All was running when I arrived. The LGR read: 7:28PST, 25.25C, 129.76Torr, 14.512usec, 10Hz, 3.684ppm I added pipe insulation to the tubing to help protect it from UV degradation. I tried to calibrate the LGR but there was no flow in low flow mode and the pressure dropped to zero Torr. The external filters were okay. I didn?t have any spare filters so I did not check the internal filter. However the pressure and flow seemed okay in high flow mode. After adjusting the bypass valve the LGR read: 8:28PST, 26.71C, 146.28Torr, 14.419usec, 10Hz, 2.255ppm I cut the grass around the box and I cut the tops off the cattails in front of the tower. I dug up some rice roots. It looks like some roots go down to 20cm but most are in the 0-10cm range. I collected data and swapped cards. Radiometers were clear. One of the theta probes was reading a little low and I found that it was not completely inserted in the ground. I fixed it. |
