Summary: Added DC-DC supply for sonic, CR10X clock ahead by two hours - fixed. Floating water temperatures fixed.

1/18/2011 I arrived about 11am with Jaclyn. It was mostly clear, sunny and warm with almost no wind. The ground was wet but not muddy and the planting on the levees is still just a light green fuzz. The water level seems unchanged. We met Bryan Brock later at Twitchell and he said that the water level has gone down a little but will kept at the present level for the time being. Systems were running when we got there. The solar charger reported 13.5 volts, 21.6 amps solar, and 2.1 amps load. I added at DC-DC power regulator to the sonic to give it a steady 12V to fix the problem of the sonic quitting when the solar system dropped much below 12V. I could not get the new netbook to connect to the data logger so we used the field netbook and brought the new one in for testing. Jaclyn put in a longer piece of rebar for the floating water temps. We check the positions in the process: WT #3 is at -2cm, WT #4 is at -8cm, and WT #5 is at -16cm from the surface of the water. After collecting the CR10X data I noticed that its clock was two hours ahead. At 11:23 the Cr10x said 13:23 and I set the CR10X back to 11:23. Jaclyn cleaned the LI7700 mirrors and dew from the LI7500. The autocam had lost power at some point (last photo on 12/25), but powered up when I pressed the power button. It might need a newer battery and bigger solar panel. Need to refill the LI7700 wash water next time. |
