Summary: Short visit to show site to visitors, no power at tower
| 2024-04-11 West Pond Kyle, Gelary, Ash, and I arrived at 12:30 PST (13:30 PDT). Gelary is an undergraduate who is planning to do soil/plant chamber measurements for her senior thesis. Ash is a wetland modeler from LBL working with the UC Labs Wetlands project. It was warm and sunny with clear skies. We were planning to meet Laurel Larsen and her "post-normal science" class at 13:30 PDT, but they were delayed an hour so I took our visitors to West Pond to show them what a 25-year old restored wetland looks like. There was no power at the tower. The pluggable screw terminal inside the met box said 2.4V. The wire nuts by the side of the road looked fine. I didn't have waders so I didn't check the batteries/charge controller. We walked down the north side of West Pond to show them the outlet, but the willows were so overgrown we couldn't walk all the way to see the outlet. We saw one small, grey frog hanging out on one of the tules growing by the tower. We left at 12:50 PST (13:50 PDT). |
