Summary: Visitors Gelary and Ash, swapped 7500 for calibration, Campbell conductivity sensor in mud--adjusted, Campbell water level mostly NANs--fixed maybe, "developed" porewater sippers produced sample!
2024-04-11 Mayberry Kyle, Gelary, Ash, and I arrived at 10:40 PST (11:40 PDT). Gelary is an undergraduate who is planning to do soil/plant chamber measurements for her senior thesis. Ash is a wetland modeler from LBL working with the UC Labs Wetlands project. It was starting to heat up, a warm day with clean skies and a slight breeze. There were some sheep fences and sheep, just north of where the trailers used to be. Our usual roads haven't been grazed yet and the weeds were plenty tall. The water level has come up, and the staff gauge read 25cm. I checked the Campbell conductivity sensor as part of its routine check every 3 months. It was in the mud and the orifice was mostly filled. I cleaned out the orifice and raised the height of the sensor so it's well above the mud. Easier now that there's more water in the wetland. Kyle cleaned flux and rad sensors. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. I swapped the LI-7500A for calibration: sn 0041 came off and sn 75H-2667 went on. I uploaded a new config file, updated the pressure coefficients, changed the eddy lock +1min from 11:15 to 11:16 to match the laptop time, and restarted logging. I topped off the wash reservoir. old 0041 read: 433ppm CO2, 638mmol/m3 H2O, 25.1C, 100.7kPa, 98SS fresh 75H-2667 read: 443ppm CO2, 552mmol/m3 H2O, 25.5, 100.6kPa, 99SS 7700 read: 2.05ppm CH4, 47RSSI – 71 after cleaning Water level data from the CS450 (just installed last week) has been mostly NANs. I checked the wiring but it seemed secure. Three sensors (CS450, CTD, VWC_1) are wired to a screw terminal, which is wired to C7. Just in case, I moved all three sensors from the screw terminal to C7 directly. All data seemed fine after the move. This CS450 sensor does not have a history of throwing NANs, but I added in a DisVar to ignore NANs in the 30-minute average. Not sure what else it could be. Kyle took porewater samples. To her pleasant surprise, the wells she installed and "developed" two days ago all produced enough porewater to measure. I think the screened + developed sippers did better than the unscreened + developed sippers? Kyle, please add more notes and the data: Sample, Temp-compensated conductivity, Temperature, Notes Veg-blue-white, 9.23mS, 30.1C Veg-blue-yellow, 11.8mS, 25.0C Veg-blue-red, 9.8mS, 26.1C, harder to pull but was able to sample Veg-blue-black, 10.6mS, 24.3C Veg-blue-green, 8.5mS, 27.5C Veg-black-yellow, 7.9mS, 27.1C Veg-black-green, 7.7mS, 26.9C, water a lot clearer than others Veg-black-white,,,clogged Veg-black-black, 10.3mS, 25.8C Veg-black-red,,,clogged Veg-red-green, 8.4mS, 29.7C Surface, 2.6mS, 22.6C Veg-red-white, 7.45mS, 31.5C,, clogged after 3ml but cleared after pushing syringe down a bit and withdrawing again slowly Veg-red-red,,,clogged Veg-red-yellow,,,clogged Veg-red-black, 8.0mS, 22.6C We left at 11:50 PST (12:50 PDT). |
