Summary: Warm day and breezy, installed bird microphone, checked EXO--looks clean
2024-01-30 Hill Slough Robert and I arrived at 15:45 PST. It was cooling down, mostly overcast, and breezy. The staff gauge read 5.3ft at 16:02 PST. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. Robert cleaned flux and rad sensors and refilled the wash reservoir. I turned on the Song Micro Meter and checked its configuration via phone app. The app prompted me to update the sensor's live location. The settings are the same as before - records 4 hours a day, 2 hours around dawn and 2 hours around dusk. Files are stored in hourly chunks. Robert secured it to the scaffolding cross-bars with a ziptie. We took porewater and surface water conductivity measurements with the handheld YSI probe. We measured the first two pulls of porewater; the first pull is labeled “porewater_flush.” Sample, Temperature-compensated conductivity, Temperature Porewater_flush, 8.61 mS, 15.9 degC Porewater, 8.31 mS, 15.4 degC Surface, 3.24 mS, 18.3 degC The 7500 read: 430ppm CO2, 580mmol/m3 H2O, 17.2C, 101.6kPa, 98SS—99 after cleaning The 7700 read: 2.05ppm CH4, 40RSSI – 89 after cleaning At the channel, I downloaded the miniDOT data and swapped its desiccant. We also pulled up the EXO to check—the sensors looked surprisingly clean given that the auto wiper is not installed right now. I gave them a wipe anyways. No fish in the guard today. I left an EXO-compatible cable in the channel enclosure. However, I didn’t test if it’s a power-only cable, so it might not talk to the EXO. I’ll check another time. We left around 16:15 PST. |
