Joe and I arrived at 14:55 PDT. It’s been three weeks since the last site visit. I meant to come last week but Kyle and I were sampling methane bubbles at Mayberry and ran out of time to finish all of the Delta sites. Today was sunny and warm with a little breeze. There were many wasps buzzing about, but I didn’t see any obvious nests.

The fields to our E, S, and SE have been harvested. Charlotte talked to someone on Sept. 7 who said they’ll be harvesting the corn in the next month or so, so today we prepped for harvest. Joe took 5 biomass samples and removed the soil sensors from the field. I re-installed the soil sensors underneath the tower. The Campbell soil moisture probes are installed vertically, with the top of the sensor 10cm below the ground surface. The soil heat flux plates are installed at their usual -2cm depth. I re-taped some of the thermocouples that had slid up or come out. The Theta probe was installed vertically so the sensor body was buried just below the surface.

I collected met, cam, USB GHG, PA, and IRT data. I changed the eddy clock +1:15min around 14:25 PST and restarted logging. I topped off the wash reservoir and cleaned flux and rad sensors. The Mark 3 incoming radiometers were dirty from dried blood or other bodily fluids. I scrubbed it off with rubbing alcohol and a rag.

Joe removed the PL Arable sn C011081 since their inter-comparison project is “on pause.”
