Tonzi 2022-11-03 Dennis and I arrive at 10:46 PDT and a crew from Davis (Troy Magney, Lily Pack Klinek, Mukund Palat Rao) arrived shortly after us. The Davis folks are here to see the site and install point dendrometers. It was a nice cool fall day. There was some rain in the last two days but not much more than enough to wet the surface but maybe enough to cause a CO2 pulse. More rain to come.

Mukund et al put point dendrometers on five trees.

After showing the Davis folks the site and some trees to put dendrometers on, I started to collect data and Dennis measured soil moisture and measured a bunch of dendrometer bands. I measured the wells and serviced the z-cams – z-cam 2 lost its clock. I installed 23x sn 2301 to collect data for the IRT on the cal panel – it seemed to be running okay.

I updated the CR3000 program to try to exclude NaN values from the soil moisture readings. I think I got it but had to harmonize two versions of the code the get all the recent changes included. I’m not sure the Floor met code to read the soilvue profiles is working correctly yet. Seems like the first VWC reading is -Inf for both profiles. Need to look at the data some more.

I could not get connected to the CR200 for the Floor well. I have been having trouble with the USB-Serial adapters on the laptop for months, but no matter the combination of cables, ports, restarts etc could I talk to the CR200. I restarted the CR200 and it has a status light that blinks once every 10s when it makes a reading. The USB-serial cables worked on other data loggers and the FD chambers – so not sure what’s going on here.

We left at about 14:25 PDT
