I arrived at about 11:45PDT. It was clear, dry and hot. Things look about the same as last time. Still no rain in the forecast. A group from JPL including French scientist working on the European TRISHNA Project visited yesterday. They have a high-resolution Multi-Spectral Thermal Infrared instrument which is planning to be launched in 2025 and orbit the earth as an Earth Orbiting satellite. I think all they did was wander around the base of the tower thinking about ground truthing at the site.

I swapped the outgoing PAR sensor sn 030382 came off and sn 990025 went on. The one coming off has had small spikes for a long time that a change of mux channel didn’t fix. I don’t seen any problems with the cable but there is a splice in it that I will take apart and check in the lab.

I also checked on the top GMP343 CO2 sensor – it has been sending bad data for a few weeks. Again I saw no obvious problems, but disconnecting it and plugging it back in seems to have fixed the issue. I still need to think about bringing them all in for calibration.

I collected flux, met, camera and FD data. I measured soil moisture, DBH, and well levels. The well depth meter is acting up again.

I checked the wiring on the OSU CR3000. The 4-way radiometer and the two added soil heat flux plates have strange data. I discovered the wiring was confused and channels in the program did not match the wiring. Both cables from the 4-way have the same color conductors and the PRT wires (red/blue) were mistaken for the SWin wires (red/blue). I think the data looks better now. Also we are now recording mV instead of W/m2.

I tried to install a 23x sn 2143 and the IRT sn 7385 on the cal panel. Robert used this IRT on his bike and wanted a post experiment calibration. However I forgot the solar system at the Floor is now 24V and fed 24V to the 23x. There was a 7.5 fuse on the solar power which blew but the 23X flashed “Hello” before something inside burned. I left the IRT there but I brought the 23x back in – maybe I can replace the burnt component, otherwise it’s toast. I can install another 23x (and power converter!) next time.

I serviced the z-cams. Z-cam 1 had all black photos last time. This time the photos look okay. I unmounted the camera and took a couple of photos with both memory cards and they all looked okay. Hopefully it will continue to work.

I checked on OSU SP1 and SP2 soil moistures sensors that are not reporting. I didn’t see any wire damage and I tightened wire screws but nothing was very loose. I also check on the SP2 IRT sn NO1107536 – It has been reporting funky numbers. Looks like woodpeckers have destroyed its window. I brought it in to dispose of.
