Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, hot, water level going down, still no camera photos--fixed nick in camera power cable, changed eddy clock +1min
2022-08-03 West Pond I arrived at 14:00 PDT. It was hot with clear skies and an occasional breeze. The water level has gone down a lot and is now below the platform. The staff gauge read 68cm. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. I changed the eddy clock +1:05min from 13:14:30 to 13:15:35 to match the laptop time. I cleaned flux and rad sensors and topped off the wash reservoir. At the last site visit we reset the camera and watched it take two photos at the expected time, so I was hopeful the camera was working. Unfortunately, this time the camera still did not have any new photos. This time when I restarted the camera, I did see it shut down shortly afterwards. I inspected the camera power cable and saw a tiny nick and a little corrosion in the red power cable coming into the camera enclosure. I re-stripped the power cable and restarted the camera. I waited 10min for the camera to take a photo at the expected time and confirmed there was 1 photo on the card. The 7500 read: 402ppm CO2, 788mmol/m3 H2O, 34.2C, 100.9kPa, 100SS – 102 after cleaning The 7700 read: 1.90ppm CH4, 53RSSI – 91 after cleaning I left at 14:50 PDT. Looking at the data back in the lab, Joe noticed that the RSSI has been really noisy. I didn't notice an unusual amount of spiderwebs, but it's possible just a small amount waving back and forth would cause the noise. Hopefully I cleaned the sensor thoroughly during this visit. |
