Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, rained last night, changed eddy clock +1min, bucket on floating boom not floating--needs more attention
2022-03-15 Mayberry Robert and I arrived at 13:50 PDT. It was mild, partly sunny with a cool breeze. There were high thin clouds in the sky and fluffy cumulus clouds near the horizons. It had rained about <0.5cm last night and early this morning and 0.5-1cm more rain is forecast for Saturday. PG&E trucks were parked by the pipeline so they're probably still working on painting it. At the tower, there are some green cattails coming up on the channel edges by our tower. Two swans were swimming by the tower as we approached. The staff gauge read 81cm. I collected met and USB GHG data. I changed the eddy clock from 13:12 to 13:13 to match the laptop time and restarted USG logging afterwards. The Canon camera was removed on my last visit, and I tested it in the lab. The camera still saves underexposed daytime photos with a new DC-DC converter and new coin cell battery, so I think it's time to retire the Canon camera. I'll start adding the picam data to the MB_cam data stream. I downloaded the picam and stardot photos. The stardot camera can be removed because we have enough data for our camera intercomparison. We noticed the bucket on the end of the floating boom was fully underwater. It doesn't matter too much right now because the eosGP and miniDOT are both fully underwater. Robert tried to haul the boom up so we could inspect the bucket, but it was too heavy. For now he hitched the coated wire cable to a higher point so the bucket is only half underwater. Next time I’ll bring the waders to do an inspection from the water. Robert cleaned flux and rad sensors. There were a lot of wasps in the wash reservoir box so we opened the lid when we arrived to let them disperse. The reservoir was 80% full; we refilled it. Mayberry could use a work day: - Fix floating boom so it floats again - Organize solar panels - Boardwalk or path from car to tower - Replace rusty sonic bolt - Rad boom bolt - re-thread for bigger bolt - Remove stardot camera and Canon enclosure - Re-mount pi-cam and dfPAR to lower height? We left at 14:20 PDT. The gate was open when we arrived. We tried to close it but there was no lock and we didn't see it anywhere obvious on the ground. |
