Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, swapped 7500 for calibration, got combo for main gate lock
2021-10-07 Mayberry Dennis, Ari, and I arrived at 9:50 PDT. It was a pleasant day, mild and partly cloudy with a slight breeze. On our way in, we entered through the main Sherman gate that was open. Ray, a resident of the island, was just inside the gate with his truck pulling a platform trailer (and a winch at the top of the trailer). He was helping his neighbor that lived in the red house. Apparently the red house’s well is right inside the main Sherman gate with a pipe running underground through the fields to the house. Something is wrong with the well so Ray was helping to inspect it. Ray also shared the combo lock combination with us, so maybe we don’t have to wait for Bryan to replace the locks before we gain access to this gate. At Mayberry, there was a small tractor with a mower attachment, so they may mow the farm levee roads soon. Our road was still filled with tall weeds. This wetland was at least ½ yellow—a big contrast with Gilbert Tract which was still all green. At the tower, many of the tules had large flowers and the cattails had quite a few visible catkins despite the caterpillars still munching away actively. The staff gauge read 33cm. I downloaded met, cam, and USB GHG data. I also downloaded the stardot photos and the picam photos (and cleaned the picam memory). I downloaded FD data and cleared its memory. Ari cleaned flux and rad sensors and cleaned spiderwebs from the Canon camera enclosure. Dennis topped off the wash reservoir. We swapped LI-7500s for calibration: sn 75H-2180 came off and sn 0418 went on. I uploaded a new config file, updated the pressure coefficients, changed the eddy clock ~+30sec to match the laptop time, and rest the box. I checked that the USB was logging and the 7700 was connected. We dropped one of the bolt+washers that connect the 7500 with its mount into the water. Dennis found a spare in the toolbox, so I need to replace the spare before our next trip. LI-7500 readings (sn 75H-2180 --> sn 0418): CO2 398ppm --> 409 H2O 570ppm --> 504 T 17.3C --> 18.3 P 101.3kPa --> 101.4 SS 97--> 101 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 2.0ppm RSSI 58--> 86 after cleaning We left at 10:30 PDT. |
