Bouldin Corn: 2021-06-22 11:45:00 (DOY 173)
Author: Daphne Szutu
Others: Dennis, Ariane
Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, windy, spectral, veg height, downloaded IRT data, fiddled with picam clocks
2021-06-22 Bouldin Corn Dennis, Ariane, and I arrived at 11:45 PDT. It was a breezy and warm day with good visibility. The corn is about chin height. Dennis took spectral and veg height measurements. Ari cleaned flux and rad sensors. I downloaded met, camera, and USB GHG data. I downloaded the FD data and cleared its memory. I downloaded the PA data and power-cycled the sensor. The dfPAR still has NANs, and I wonder if it’s because it’s sharing a control port with the 6 NDVI/PRI sensors (via a screw terminal). They all have different addresses, so it shouldn’t matter. But to see if it would make a difference, I moved the dfPAR from C7 to C5. C5 is also used by the water level sensor. I uploaded a new datalogger program with the new control port. I downloaded the undercanopy cameras and cleared their memories. For Picam 1, I changed the clocks from 11:22 to 11:15 to match the laptop time. For Picam 2, I changed the clocks from 11:21 to 11:10 to match the laptop time. Their clocks were off again by about 7-10 minutes even though we just re-set them last week. Joe suggested I check both the system time and the real-time clock (RTC) times. When I arrived, the system time and RTC were the same. After I set the system time using the “sudo date –s†command, the system time was correct but the RTC time was still bad, so I figured the RTC was setting the system time every once in a while (maybe on start-up?). I used the “sudo hwclock –w†command to set the RTC using the system time and confirmed the RTC and the system time matched. I restarted the picam and confirmed the RTC and system times still matched. I went through the same process for both cameras. Summary of clock commands for the pi: To check system time: date To check RTC: sudo hwclock –r Set system time: sudo date –s “Tue 22 Jun 14:15:00 -08 2021†(make sure text string matches format of the output from the “date†command) Set RTC time from system time: sudo hwclock -w I also downloaded the IRT files by moving them from the microSD card to the laptop. Next time I’ll use the LoggerNet utility CardConvert to convert them from binary to TOA5 format. I inserted the microSD card back into the IRT datalogger but I can’t remember if I waited for the Activity LED to blink.
