Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, sheep still on field, mux sensors missing sporadic data--maybe fixed, lots of ants in camera card slot, spectral, one NFD chamber had fallen over--fixed
2021-01-03 Bouldin Alfalfa Mike and I arrived at 14:30 PST. It was calm, cool, and partly overcast. There were sheep on the east side of the field and we could hear hunting sounds. There’s been some rain in the past few weeks, but the ground was firm and we were able to drive right up to the tower. More rain is expected this coming week. I downloaded met, camera, and USB GHG data. The met sensors connected to the mux had sporadically missing data. I think there were some loose connections in the mux blocks, so I unplugged and replugged all the blocks. The wiring b/t the mux and datalogger seemed secure. I downloaded and cleared the FD chamber. I synched the FD time (forgot to check the original time) with the laptop and confirmed the sampling frequency was at 5min. I downloaded one of the NFD chambers (FM20200001). FM20200003, the NFD chambers by the SE corner of the scaffolding, had fallen over. I put it back up in the same location, using a screwdriver to loosen the soil so I could push the collar in deeper. The zPAR sensor had survived the sheep. I wiped off some dust from the lens and tried to make it a bit more level. I cleaned flux and rad sensors. The reservoir was mostly full and I topped it off. There were many ants in the camera card slot. I shooed them out with the last of the compressed air and left some mothballs in the datalogger enclosure. I changed the spectral jaz time from 14:13 to 15:28 and took a few readings. I did a quick visual check of the PL Arables. The 2 posts seemed level. 3 of the Arables had amber/yellow indicator lights and 1 had a green indicator light. (Small indicator lights on the bottom that I think indicate battery charging status.) LI-7500 readings: CO2 432ppm H2O 545ppm T 14.2C P 102.2kPa SS 98--> 100 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 2.1 ppm RSSI 30-->71 after cleaning We left at 15:40 PST. |
