Summary: Regular data collection/cleaning, water level has gone down, adjusted floating boom, water samples for Isabel, 7700 spin weirdness--fixed?, camera was off--fixed?, installed conductivity sensor for intercomparison, uploaded new CR1000 program
2020-11-03 Mayberry Ariane and I arrived at 14:10 PST. It was a sunny and mild day with a little breeze, clear skies and haze at the horizons. The wetland is still mostly green. The water level has gone down; the staff gauge read 35cm. It was windy about 10 days ago, and the water sensor boom had blown to the east so it was right under the radiometer. I adjusted it to the north so it was perpendicular with the scaffolding. Ari and I also readjusted some of the boardwalks. The FD collar was almost out of the water, so we lowered the floating boom guyline so that the boom was floating again. Ari collected water samples for Isabel at 14:10 PST. The 7700 mirror was spinning nonstop when we arrived (probably a firmware bug). I rebooted the instrument from the 7700 software, clicked “Turn off spin motor,†and the spinning stop. There was a 7700 clock sync error which went away after I rest the 7550 box. The 7700 advanced cleaning options were filled in, but not enabled. I clicked the checkmarks to enable both “lower mirror spin†and “mirror spray.†It seems ok now, and the 7700 spin/spray test went as expected. The wash reservoir was full. I downloaded met, USB GHG, and miniDOT data. I swapped desiccant for the water level sensor and miniDOT. Ari cleaned flux and rad sensors. The fluorometer lenses looked clean and the brushes were not blocking the lenses. The camera was off again, so there were no photos for the 4th week. Ari turned the camera back on but heard the camera turn off and she was raising the post. I checked all the power connections inside the camera box but didn’t see anything loose. We may want to move the DC-DC converter from the camera box to the met box so there are fewer connections to be yanked around in the camera box. We lowered and raised the camera post a few times to check. The camera was still on when we left. I installed a conductivity sensor from SW (sn 7157) to compare against the current conductivity sensor at MB (sn 5688). The new sensor is wired on the CR1000 using the same excitation ports as the old sensor. There was a mistake in the MB datalogger program for the old sensor. In cases of low conductivity, the secondary conductivity measurement used the data wire for the thermistor (SE 11) rather than the SE low for the conductivity measurement (SE 10). Old lines: Case Is < 1.8 BrHalf(Rraw, 1, mV5000, 11, VX2, 1, 2500, true, 0, 250, 1, 0) New lines: Case Is < 1.8 BrHalf(Rraw, 1, mV5000, 10, VX2, 1, 2500, true, 0, 250, 1, 0) I fixed this typo and added the 2nd conductivity sensor the CR1000 program (MB_Tule_20201103.CR1) and uploaded it to the datalogger. I’ve started adding an edit log at the top of CR1000 programs so I can quickly tell what’s different about each version. Ari secured both conductivity sensors next to each other off the east side of the scaffolding, next to the water level well. She tried to keep them out of the mud. There was a little mud in the old sensor that I pushed out with a reed. The temperature-compensated conductivity from both sensors was both 2.3. Temperature from the old sensor was 29C (too high) and from the new sensor was 17C (reasonable). Next time I need to check the connections inside the homemade A547 box and check if the raw conductivity values need to be save in IEEE instead of FP2. LI-7500 readings: CO2 405ppm H2O 485ppm T 23.3C P 101.5kPa SS 96-->101 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 2.0ppm --> 1.9 after cleaning RSSI 0--> 85 after cleaning We left at 15:50 PST. |
