Summary: Regular data download/cleaning, calibrated 7700, attempted to calibrate tipping bucket, radiometer boom was askew--re-leveled, water samples for Isabel
2020-11-12 Mayberry Joe and I arrived at 9:40 PST. It was a sunny, mild and still day with some wispy cirrus clouds. The water level has gone down a bit. The staff gauge read 31.5cm. I collected water samples for Isabel at 10:00 PST. The radiometer boom was dipping down towards the west like a really big bird had sat on it. Joe re-leveled it. I downloaded met, camera, USB GHG, and FD data. I cleared the FD memory after download. Joe cleaned flux and rad sensors. The PARin sensor was muddy. The wash reservoir was mostly full; we topped it off. Joe checked the screw terminal connections in the camera enclosure since it’s been losing power recently. He re-stripped one wire that was barely hanging on. Since the conductivity sensor temperature data has been bad (high) recently, I checked the homemade conductivity A547. I cleaned out quite a few ant carcasses, but nothing looked corroded or loose. I swapped the conductivity data wire between the two A547s and got a reasonable reading on the temperature, so there is probably something wrong with the homemade A547. I took some pictures and will try to build a replacement. We tested the tipping bucket sn 40415-1006. Joe cleaned out the tippers and then dripped 475ml of water through the bucket which should result in 100tips. We got 91 tips. We turned its set screw two full rotations CW. We tested it again with another 475ml of water and got 94 tips. We left it as is. Joe thought the bottle was dripping water too quickly, so the bucket was undercounting. We’ll try again with a smaller hole at the bottom of the bottle. We calibrated LI-7700 sn TG1-0223. The zero and span offsets were small. The 7700 wash/spin settings looked fine. LI-7500 readings: CO2 440ppm H2O 355ppm T 12.3C P 101.8kPa SS 97-->101 after cleaning LI7700 readings: CH4 2.5ppm --> 2.3 after calibration RSSI 68--> 78 after cleaning --> 73 after calibration We left at 11:00 PST. |
